Meet the 2023 InnovateNB Diversity and Inclusion Champion

Dr. Constantine Passaris has been a trailblazing champion of multiculturalism, immigration, inclusion and human rights in New Brunswick for over 50 years. A professor of economics at the University of New Brunswick since 1972, he has advanced diversity through his academic work and his public advocacy through numerous articles and speaking engagements. He has been a key player in creating new multicultural institutions and supporting public policy that promotes greater equity, diversity, and inclusion, including helping to draft New Brunswick’s first multicultural policy. The founding president of both the New Brunswick Multicultural Council and the Atlantic Multicultural Council, Dr. Passaris is the first New Brunswicker to receive an award from the Canadian Council for Multicultural and Intercultural Education. Among numerous honours and awards, in 2019, the New Brunswick Multicultural Council presented him with its inaugural Legacy Award to recognize and celebrate his long-standing contributions.
