InnovateNB Celebration

The 2023 InnovateNB Celebration was hosted on Thursday, October 12th in Fredericton. The day was filled with programming including sessions and workshops devoted to innovative topics that affect the lives of New Brunswickers, as well as the InnovationNB and a trade show and career fair.

The Celebration was capped off with the InnovateNB Awards honouring New Brunswick’s most innovative organizations, individuals, and solutions. For more information about the Awards visit the Awards page.

InnovateNB Celebration Sessions and Events

  • Hosted by TechImpact. Throughout this interactive session delivered by MESH/Diversity, the group will brainstorm impactful strategies for inclusive and meaningful change within their workplaces.

  • Hosted by TechImpact. AI is changing our workplaces – our operations, our marketing, our required skills, our processes and our organizations. This seminar will provide a basic description of applied AI, showcase examples of how it’s being used today by NB companies, outline the implications of applied AI, and provide next steps to get started with AI in your business.

  • Hosted by the McKenna Institute. This session explored initiatives in transforming digital education in New Brunswick in cooperation with the Department of Education, post-secondary faculties, industry partners, and the broader ecosystem.

  • Hosted by Propel. Propel's Startup Coaches led this session about all things entrepreneurship. They tackled some of the myths that currently exist around starting a venture and what steps to take in your entrepreneurial journey.

  • Hosted by NBIF. NBIF brought together VC investors across Canada in a fireside chat. Attendees were able to get a glimpse into the state of the Canadian Venture Capital ecosystem, and an inside look into what investors are looking for today.

  • Hosted by NBIF and Propel. Networking opportunity between entrepreneurs and investors

  • Hosted by NBIF. Moving research and inventions out of the lab and into real-world application is key for realizing the potential of New Brunswick’s innovation community in the transition to a low-carbon economy. This panel brought together innovators from both academia and business to highlight approaches for identifying and building these opportunities.

  • Hosted by Ignite. This session was led by Judith Richardson (Lead Advancing Supplier Diversity in Atlantic Canada and Centre for Women in Business), and the panel featured certified diverse suppliers including Stephanie Hovey (Allied Therapy) and Myriane Oellette (O Strategies).

  • Hosted by Ignite. This workshop led by Cindy-Lynn Frenette – Outreach Officer, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), provided participants with a detailed overview of the Global Skills Strategy, a process defined by the Government of Canada to help employers attract top talent for their companies through a fast and predictable approach to access work permits.

  • Hosted by Ignite. Innovative companies, organizations and educational institutions from across New Brunswick attended to showcase their products and services. This event is open to the public and job seekers will be encouraged to connect with the many organizations with employment opportunities.

  • Hosted by TechImpact, the McKenna Institute, Propel, NBIF, and Ignite. Following the daytime events of the InnovateNB Celebration, the InnovateNB Awards were held at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery where we celebrated 11 of New Brunswick’s most innovative individuals, organizations and academics.
