Meet the 2023 Emerging Innovator winner, Curtis Kennedy here.

The Cyclebreaker

The Harbour Seals in Saint John delight and thrive in shifting prospects held in the hands of the wild Bay of Fundy. Fresh are their faces even in subzero temperatures and blowing wind. They have what it takes to break the surface and get deep below our typical view.

The Harbour Seal represents the heart and soul where curiosity meets longevity. This seal is emerging from the ice to be rewarded with a new view. This piece is called The Cyclebreaker, because it shows how a new vision can change the way you see the earth beneath your feet. Hovering above the volcanic sand encasing its base we see our seal passing through a gold hoop of ice. This work is meant to show the transformative power of the elements alongside the specific mystery of the sea, and how that results in innovation.

Success within community comes when innovative views for a new tomorrow are recognized today.
